Barbara Lawless has practiced employment law in California for 35 years. She is a 1972 graduate of the University of California's Boalt Hall School of Law in Berkeley, and has written and lectured extensively on wrongful termination, employment discrimination, and other employee rights issues for 25 years. A past President of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, she has also served on the Executive Boards of the California Lawyers Association, the California Employment Lawyers Association, and the Consumer Attorneys of California.
Therese Lawless has practiced with her sister Barbara since 1988. She received her bachelor's degree from Cornell University and is a 1986 graduate of George Washington University School of Law, where she was a law review editor. She later clerked with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. Named San Francisco Trial Lawyer of the Year in 2000 by the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, she later served as that organization's President.
Sonya Smallets joined Lawless & Lawless in 2004 after completing judicial clerkships with the U.S. District Court in San Francisco and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to graduating from Boalt Hall in 2001, she served as editor-in-chief of the Berkeley Women's Law Journal.
Kate Rozenvasser began working for the firm in 2009. Ms. Rozenvasser is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of San Francisco Law School.
